Youth Ministry

One of the most important times of development in a person’s life is their teenage years. We take the opportunity to invest into students and parents very seriously. Through helping families establish a plan, providing age-appropriate environments, and creating meaningful experiences we can have an impact on the next generation!

Life Groups (Sunday School)

Calvary is a church built on the concept of doing life together. In Acts 2, we see that the first century church was centered on four things:

The Teaching of God’s Word
Community Fellowship
Faithful Evangelism
Ministry to One Another

Our Life Groups (Sunday School) are the place where we get down to the business of being the living, breathing, loving Body of Christ. Through Life Groups, adults from all ages and stages of life can experience the relationships and community that are so important in a productive and valuable life.

Life Groups meet on Sunday’s at 9:30 a.m.

If you are married or single, are working or retired, have kids or not, we have a Life Group opportunity that is right for you. Learn God’s plan for your life and connect with other people who will encourage you and help you grow in your relationship with God. The more time you spend with other Christ-followers studying God’s word, the more equipped you will be to reflect Christ in your marriage, your family and your relationships.

If you are not currently in a Life Group, take a minute to select one that best fits your needs and jump in. We hope you will make doing life together a priority this year!

Women's Ministry

Friends, fellowship, an opportunity to grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ - that's what our Women's Ministry offers. Whether married, divorced, widowed, or single, you can forge new bonds and find encouragement through the Women's Ministry.

Men's Ministry

To understand the love that our Heavenly Father has for us is to understand that we are capable of loving our mates, children, and friends. To be the man that God intended is to accept His love and grow in it. The Men’s Ministry of Calvary desires for you to grow in your relationship with Christ…to assist you on the narrow path through discipleship, fellowship, and mentorship.

Our Purpose

We were created to glorify God and enjoy Him forever, and each of us was born with a desire to worship. Therefore, it is our desire as a worship ministry to facilitate, or lead, in a worship experience that is grounded in truth, relevant in content, and executed with excellence. We desire to glorify the Lord, point the lost to Christ, and encourage the believer in his or her walk with the Lord.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Do I Get Connected?
Simply come to the choir rehearsal on Wednesday nights at 6:30 PM.

Do I have to be a member of the church to participate in the Worship Ministry?
No. However, if you want to fill a leadership role you must be a member of the church.

How often do I have to attend?
As with any other ministry in the church, we need your complete commitment. You are expected to attend every rehearsal as well as each time the choir leads in worship. The exception to this, of course, is illness, vacation, or circumstances beyond your control.

When are rehearsals?
We rehearse every Wednesday evening at 6:30 PM in the Worship Center. On Sundays we lead congregational singing, as well as singing relevant anthems of praise and worship.

If I play an instrument, how can I get connected to the Worship Ministry?
Schedule an appointment with the Minister of Worship and Discipleship, at which time you will have the opportunity to ask questions concerning the Worship Ministry. The Minister of Worship and Discipleship will listen to you play your instrument. This will allow us the opportunity to hear your playing capability and then place you in the proper area of ministry.
Other areas of service are: Filing Music • Internet • Media

I am a soloist and would like to participate in ministry. Where can I get connected?
Soloists have the opportunity to minister in all the Worship Services. There are opportunities for ensembles as well.

Mission's Ministry

The Calvary Baptist Church Missions Ministry is organized around the Acts 1:8 model of ministry:
To go out in to all of Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and the ends of the earth to tell people the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Serving Locally/ Jerusalem
At Calvary, we passionately believe in serving others beyond the walls of a church building. Whether we are reaching out just around the corner or somewhere else in the Deep East Texas area, we feel compelled to serve those in need in our own backyard. We frequently seek ways to gather together en masse to build, to dig, to paint, to feed, and to care for the people around us. We are always searching and praying for new opportunities to serve and care for our local community.

Serving Regionally/ Judea and Samaria
Although there is great need in the Deep East Texas area, we also feel called to travel outside of the local region to other under-resourced locations that are in need of assistance. We have been blessed to serve in areas like Montana and Galveston, Texas in the past and are planning to expand to serve additional locations.

Serving Globally/ Ends of the Earth
A third component of missions at Calvary is traveling outside the country to meet the needs of those most often confronted with issues like starvation, disease, and other life-threatening issues. We have been blessed to serve in areas like Burkina Faso and Mexico in the past and are planning to expand to serve additional locations around the world over the next several years.

Join us as we continue to work the work of Jesus' disciples throughout the centuries, taking the Word of Christ around the world!
